29 januar 2024 mottok Røde Halvmåne i Palestina en nødsamtale. En 6 år gammel jente er fanget i en bil som blir beskutt. Mens de frivillige i Røde Halvmåne holder samtalen i gang, gjør de alt de kan for å få sendt en ambulanse som kan nå fram til henne i tide. Utgangspunktet til filmen er det ekte lydopptaket av Hind Rajab, som er hennes navn. Hun overtok telefonen fra sin døde venninne på 16 år og som hadde klart å ringe nødsentralen. Regissør Kaouther Ben Hania har gjenskapt hendelsene fra kontorene til Palestinsk Røde Halvmåne. Filmen utløste sterke reaksjoner på filmfestivalen i Venezia og omtales som en av årets viktigste filmer. Den er på linje med våre to øvrige filmer på programmet; MITT PALESTINA og PALESTINE 36 – alle tre på kortlisten til Oscar 2026 for Beste fremmedspråklige film.

A shocking and compelling drama based on a true story about a group of aid workers racing against the clock to save the life of a 5-year-old girl during Israel’s invasion of Gaza.

On January 29, 2024, the Red Crescent in the West Bank receives an emergency call. On the other end of the line is a 5-year-old girl trapped in a car in Gaza that has just been fired upon by Israeli troops. Her family lies lifeless around her, and she needs help. The ambulance is only 8 minutes away, but can the volunteer emergency workers guarantee the ambulance free passage through the war zone before it is too late?

The Voice of Hind Rajab uses the actual audio recordings from the emergency call in this dramatization of the true story of Hind Rajab, and those who tried to save her. We follow the aid workers who are torn between a burning desire to save the young girl but must maneuver through a labyrinthine bureaucracy to be allowed to help. The result is an intense cinematic experience that shines a light on the horrors of war and the impossible conditions faced by both the civilian population and aid organizations in a war zone.
